Mini Masters Box Set - Book Cover

A confession: When I visit a museum of any kind, I LOVE visiting the gift shop, sometimes even more than the museum itself. Stocked with unusual finds and carefully curated books, there is always the thrill of discovering something new that you can take home with you.

On a recent trip to the St. Louis Art Museum I first came across Mini Masters, a wonderful series of board books that I am excited to highlight. Read more…Museum finds: 10 great board books on art

Here’s looking at you, Brown Bear!

Posted on September 26, 2016 Leave a Comment

Head to Amherst, MA by October 9 to hunt for a very special Brown Bear and his friends. They’ll be waiting for you in popular spots all over town. Hike Bare Mountain (to see Brown Bear), wander through wildflowers at Hampshire College (to see Red Bird), or eat at a Black Sheep Deli (to see Black Sheep)…and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the beloved classic Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See. Organized by the Eric Carle Museum, this pop-up exhibition and scavenger hunt celebrates the book that launched Eric Carle’s amazing career as an illustrator.  Read more…Here’s looking at you, Brown Bear!

Book gifts

Book Bonanza 2

Books dominated the gifts my boys received this Christmas 2018. Between aunts and uncles, grandparents, parents and Santa, the boys made out like very successful book bandits indeed. I would have been very jealous about their haul, except that my own gifts included some great books too. Read more…Book Bonanza 2

There’s also nothing quite like the feeling of getting something fun in the mail every month with your name on it.

I recently came across a children’s magazine, a newbie on the scene, that I wanted to share with you: Smore Magazine. Read more…Give me Smore: a science magazine for girls (and boys)
